Toyota said Thursday (January 21st) that it's recalling 2.3 million vehicles in the U.S. because of a problem with accelerator pedals that can become stuck. The Japanese carmaker is recommending that drivers of the recalled vehicles should firmly push down on the brake if the gas pedal gets stuck, not pump the brakes, and contact their nearest Toyota dealer after parking in a safe place. The vehicles affected are: the Corolla, Matrix and RAV4 from 2009 to 2010; the Camry and Tundra from 2007 to 2010; the Avalon from 2005 to 2010; the Sequoia from 2008 to 2010; and the 2010 Highlander. This latest recall comes after another one from Toyota just months ago in which the accelerator pedal could become caught under the floor mat, causing sudden acceleration, in certain vehicles. Toyota's Lexus and Scion brands are not involved.
