UNDATED --  If you plan some pre-holiday celebrations this weekend, make sure you designate someone to be sober when its time to go home. State Police are putting on extra patrols this weekend and they will be specifically looking for anyone who exhibits signs that they may have been drinking.

Sergeant Jill Bennett says four people died in 4 crashes on the weekend before Christmas last year, and 2 involved alcohol. Their goal is to reduce that to zero this year.

28 more laid off State Troopers will be reinstated on January 11th, and returned to the posts they came from.  That will mean only 17 of the 100 troopers laid off earlier this year will still be off the job.

55 were reinstated this fall as part of a legislative deal to fund the new state police headquarters in Lansing.

The state will be using stimulus dollars to fund the reinstatement.
