MARSHFIELD, Wis (WSAU) A Chili man is in critical condition after his car was struck by a train in Marshfield.
79 year old Willard Geldernick's car was stopped on the tracks inside the crossing gates on Veterans Parkway Thursday night when it was struck by a Canadian National train. An off duty Marshfield firefighter tried to get Geldernick out of the car but the doors were locked. He performed first aid on the victim after the crash until other paramedics arrived.
Authorities don't know why Geldernick's car was stopped on the tracks. He was the only person in the vehicle. He is hospitilized at St. Joseph's in Marshfield.
