COLDWATER (WTVB) - Candidates for Governor, Secretary of State, Congress and other offices, along with Republican activists and supporters gathered Friday night for the 115th Annual Branch County Lincoln Day Banquet.  The keynote speaker was current Oakland County Sheriff and candidate for governor Mike Bouchard, who told the crowd of around 200 that there is bad news and good news in what’s happening in Michigan, and that the problems can be fixed.  Bouchard’s running mate is current Secretary of State Terry Lynn Land.

The primary field for the 7th District congressional nomination got smaller last night, as Coldwater High graduate and current Potterville City Councilman Mike Stahly announced he was dropping out of the race and throwing his support behind Brian Rooney.

The Branch County Republican of the Year award went to Harold Sneath for his work on the Lincoln Day and Fair Restaurant committees, as well as coordinating the party’s new website.
