RHINELANDER, Wis (WSAU) The City of Rhinelander could buy the Federal Building downtown for 1-dollar. Some residents want to turn it into an art center. Some city leaders wonder if they'll have to foot the bill for maintenance and upkeep.

There's an informational meeting on the proposal December 7th. Starting at 7pm the building will be open for tours for city council members and the public.

Supporters of the 'Art Start Rhinelander' proposal say they'll never have a chance for such a large and centrally located gallery again -- essentially for free. They'll make a presentation on the economics of running the building to city leaders.

The Feds offered to sell the property in September. A decision from the city on whether to buy it is expected by the end of the year.
