BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WIBQ) - A survey of almost 170-thousand students in over 5-hundred schools reveals more kids are using marijuana. Researchers found that the reported use of marijuana is on the rise by students in grades seven through 12, a number that's been increasing since 2008. An upward trend in monthly and lifetime use of tobacco in pipes was found among students in grades six through 12.
There was some good news, results of the survey showed that lifetime use of cigarettes by sixth through 12th graders has decreased since 2009. The biggest drop was among 12th graders. Researchers say that shows that Indiana's prevention efforts are working. The survey was conducted by the Indiana Prevention Resource Center at Indiana University Bloomington.
