Governor Dayton says he'll try to get Minnesota back in the "Race to the Top" for extra federal education dollars, although it's not clear whether the program is still open.  Dayton told a group representing school districts today that he'll talk to U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan about it.  The state's earlier application for "Race to the Top" money was rejected and then-Governor Pawlenty decided not to apply for a second round.  He said DFL lawmakers weren't willing to make necessary education reforms so Minnesota could win the competition.
