UNDATED (WHTC News) - Two Lakeshore communities tackle the controversial issue of medical marijuana this evening.
During the Holland City Council’s meeting, the panel will be asked to vote on whether to put coding standards for the growing of medicinal weed by caregivers and patients into law. The Tulip City is among a number of communities statewide that have grappled with this issue ever since voters approved “growing your own” for pain relief two and a half years ago. The ordinance amendment targets storefront “clinics” that would be pharmacies for pot.
Meanwhile, the Saugatuck Township board is expected tonight to slap a temporary moratorium on dispensaries after the opening of such a shop on Blue Star Highway last month. Two weeks ago, Holland Township trustees approved an anti-clinics measure that opponents vow will be challenged in court.
