Tougher teen driver license regulations go into effect today to try and reduce one of the big killers of teens here in Michigan---distracted driving.  The state will set a new curfew for teen drivers from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to be off the road.  Currently, the curfew doesn't go into effect until midnight.  The state will also limit teen drivers to one non-family passenger under the age of 20, unless the trip is to or from school or a school event, or a parent or guardian is also on board.  The restrictions will apply to 16 and 17-year olds at level two of Michigan's graduated licensing system.
