Despite the controversy surrounding teaching cursive in schools, Vigo County School officials say they have no plans of discontinuing the lessons anytime soon.  The Common Core of Standards determined last fall that it was no longer required to teach cursive writing in schools, while Indiana legislators have recently crafted a bill that they hope will make the teaching of cursive mandatory.  Officials in Vigo County say they will continue to teach cursive writing at the third grade level as part of their Language Arts Series no matter the outcome.
